The Auxiliary has been busy fundraising for the Uxbridge Hospital through events such as our annual “Run for the Diamond” Marathon, in the month of June, and special sales throughout the year, such as our Fall Mums Sale and our Christmas Poinsettia Sale.

The Auxiliary opened a store in 1986 called Chances Are, professionally staffed and maintained by business-minded and caring volunteers, which sells donated new and gently-used clothing and small housewares. The store is located at 2 Elgin Park Drive, at the Rexall plaza, in Uxbridge and is “social shift work” to a team of over 90 dedicated volunteers.

These fundraising initiatives, have also  allowed the Uxbridge Hospital Auxiliary to donate over $6 million dollars to the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation since 2010. The money has been used for diagnostic equipment, including a mammography machine, and upgrading various systems throughout the Hospital.

In September of 1954, the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Auxiliary held its inaugural meeting, boldly setting out to raise awareness and funds to help build a local Cottage Hospital.  Thanks in large part to those dedicated early members and donors, the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital officially opened its doors in 1959.

In 2024, the Auxiliary marked 70 years of association and service to the Uxbridge Hospital and the Community – providing daily volunteer support and fundraising millions of dollars for upgrades and changes to help the hospital meet the medical needs of all Uxbridge residents. In January of 2024, its 70th Anniversary, the Auxiliary became a not-for-profit corporation and pledged to raise $1.5million for the new Uxbridge Hospital.
